D. Eric Williams, M.S., M.H.A.

Founder

Since he was a child, Eric Williams has had an insatiable appetite for knowledge. Eric was born into a family of teachers where he was taught the value of education. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree from Hardin-Simmons University, he continued on to earn his Master of Science degree. Eric also obtained a Master of Healthcare Administration degree to accompany his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees.

In the early stages of his career, he applied his knowledge first with several small commercial and cargo airlines before joining Continental Airlines, based in Houston. During his years with Continental, he held management positions in Operations, Engineering, Technology, and Food Services. With his strengths lying in his ability to organize, effectively communicate and problem solve, he served as liaison to many different departments, while coordinating the efforts of each, to reach a single goal.

Though Eric enjoyed his career with Continental, he was restless. He had a strong desire to get involved with improving the lives of others. Out of this desire, and Dr. Sirbaugh’s frustration with the level of care his parents were receiving, came the collaboration to create Patient Caregivers LLC. Patient Caregivers LLC is committed to being the Personal Assistance Services agency of choice for adults who care for aging parents or other loved ones.

Dr. Paul Sirbaugh, D.O., F.A.A.P., F.A.C.E.P.

Founder / Consultant

Dr. Paul Sirbaugh is currently Clinical Operations Director of the Section of Emergency Medicine and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. He is a full-time faculty member and Associate Medical Director of the Emergency Center as well as the Director of Prehospital Medicine at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, TX. Dr. Sirbaugh also serves as Assistant Medical Director for the City of Houston Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services. He earned his D.O. degree from the University of North Texas State Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas and completed his internship at Mt. Clemens General Hospital in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. He completed his residency in Pediatrics and his fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine’s affiliated hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Sirbaugh lectures locally, statewide, regionally, and nationally on various topics related to Pediatric Emergency Medicine. He is the national Chair of the EMS Subcommittee, as well as a member of the Committee on Pediatric Emergency Medicine, for the American Academy of Pediatrics, and is involved in many local, statewide, regional, and national committees related to pediatric emergency medicine and prehospital pediatrics. Dr. Sirbaugh was honored to be the recent local recipient of the Jefferson Award (http://www.aips.org) for his service during Houston’s response to Katrina evacuees from New Orleans. In June of 2007 he represented the Houston area as a contender for the National Jefferson Award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

More importantly and certainly more relative to his current business interests is his personal experience in elderly caregiving. Dr. Sirbaugh was his parent's personal caregiver for over seven years. After a continuous pattern of unsatisfactory job performance on the part of the services as well as the caregivers, he began recruiting and hiring his own caregivers. By 2001, all of his caregivers were hired independent of caregiving agencies. By 2002 he was assisting others in the same practice as well as consulting on home caregiving for their parents. In 2004, he joined forces with Eric Williams and in October of 2004 they created Patient Caregivers LLC. Intellectually and experientially, he has spent his entire life preparing for this venture.

Jamie Duff

Administrator

Patient Caregivers is proud to announce the newest member of our family! Jamie Duff has joined us as our new Administrator.  Jamie was born in Oklahoma but raised in Athens, Texas where she lived, and grew up, next door to her grandparents.  “I have been around seniors my entire life”. This upbringing gave Jamie a keen understanding of the needs of seniors.

Jamie graduated from school in Memphis, TN in 1995.   She put her education to work in various supervisory positions for the next 9 years in a variety of fields, which has made her background diverse.  “I started working as a part time caregiver in 2004 and fell in love with it”.  In 2005, Jamie decided to further her education and pursue her degree in Business Administration and Accounting. After working as a caregiver for a year and a half, and based upon her performance as such, Jamie was offered the opportunity expand her role and work in the office as well.  In 2007, she was promoted to Administrator.  “I loved the work I was doing. Seeing a smile on a senior’s face after I help them is amazing to me”.

Jamie spent three years as the Alternate Administrator for Caring Companions at Home in Athens while also working as the Administrator for Caring Companions at Home of Tyler.  In 2010, she decided to broaden her horizons and make a move to a larger city that offered more challenging and diverse opportunities.  This move brought her to Houston where she began her work with Patient Caregivers in May of 2010.  Jamie is excited about taking on the challenges of her new position here and is looking forward to a long and rewarding career with Patient Caregivers.

Robin Tangen, RN

Nurse Consultant

Robin Tangen is a native of Houston and has been a registered nurse for 8 years.  She obtained her nursing degree from San Jacinto College in Pasadena and after her graduation in 2000 she trained in adult surgical intensive care at UTMB, the level I trauma center in Galveston.  Robin’s experience includes staffing for Staff Search.  She assisted in placing quality nursing candidates in hospital intensive care units and emergency rooms.  Her experience has given her a keen knowledge of what makes a quality nurse and caregiver.

Longing to get back to that one-on-one patient care she so loved, Robin trained for and provided mobile acute dialysis which offers patients, admitted to the hospital, dialysis at their bedside.  Later, she returned to her roots by joining the fast-paced emergency room staff at St Lukes in The Woodlands.  It was there that she began her work in pediatrics and there that she met Dr. Paul Sirbaugh, Founder and Consultant to Patient Caregivers.  When Patient Caregivers needed a new nurse to oversee the medication program, Dr. Sirbaugh immediately thought of Robin.  Her education, experience and expertise made her the natural choice.

Robin’s experience in caring for her grandmother and mother has made her acutely aware of the challenges involved when finding someone to care for your family when they are in need of quality care and assistance.  Robin assisted her mother in taking care of her grandmother until she lost her battle with cancer.  Robin and her husband assisted her mother when she had a broken arm and could not fully care for herself.  Robin shares Dr. Sirbaugh’s passion in providing quality care to patients and accepted, without hesitation, the invitation to join Patient Caregivers.

Robin is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Management at Fort Hayes State University, after which she plans to obtain her Master's in Business Management.
